501 Council Grants
The 501 Council is gearing up for the 2011 grant selection process. This year, the 501 Council will select three of Greenlights' member organizations to receive capacity-building grants valued at $2,000 or more that can be applied towards Greenlights consulting services.
Are you looking for someone to facilitate your strategic planning process? Need help developing a clear fundraising strategy? Want to maximize the effectiveness of your board? To find out how our 501 Council grants can help you, join us on September 8.
The 2010 grantees included Spirit Reins, UpLift Austin and Born Again Ministries.
What is Greenlights 501 Council
The 501 Council is a membership forum for engaged givers… and those who want to be. The majority of member dues go to a Capacity Fund from which the Council makes annual “capacity service grants” to worthy nonprofits, enabling them to benefit from Greenlights’ expert consulting services. The Council and the Fund offer multiple opportunities to learn, engage and have direct impact including:
- Service on the Grantmaking Committee that determines how Capacity Fund dollars are utilized;
- Service on the Recruitment Committee which grows the membership (and the size of the Fund) through recruitment of new members;
- Service on the Engagement Committee which creates and manages the Council’s calendar of events;
- Attendance at quarterly educational and networking events; and
- Access to relevant Greenlights events, like our board matching and training programs.
Join Greenlights 501 Council
Member commitment includes:
- Annual dues of $250
- The intention to attend quarterly events and participation on one or more of the committees (we are “engaged” givers, after all).
In addition, Sustaining Members make a pledge to be involved with the 501 Council for at least 3 years.
We invite you to become a Member or Sustaining Member of the Greenlights 501 Council.
