Interim Executive Director Program

The individuals currently in our Interim Executive Director Pool have more than 75 years experience as nonprofit Executive Directors, in addition to deep leadership experience as board members, nonprofit staff, and business leaders. Since its inception in 2008, our IED pool has provided over 30 months of IED service to the Central Texas nonprofit community. These individuals are highly equipped to guide an organization through a time of change, helping the board and staff lay the groundwork for success while a thoughtful and intentional search for a permanent Executive Director takes place.

Each member of the Greenlights IED pool meets the following high standards:

  • Successful tenure as a full-time Executive Director of a nonprofit organization
  • Trained by Greenlights on additional leadership and management skills keyed to an organization's needs during transition
  • A personality and communication style well-suited to working within the uncertainties and anxiety that tend to accompany organizational change
  • Completed an affiliate agreement/contract

IEDs serving with Greenlights in this capacity have:

  • Received two days of IED-focused training from Greenlights,
  • Access to a wide array of Greenlights’ resources, and
  • Ongoing coaching, peer support and “wrap-around” consulting assistance throughout their service as an IED.

Learn more about how your organization can manage a transition with the placement of an Interim Executive Director through Greenlights for NonProfit Success by contacting Tara Kirkland, (512) 477-5955 x262.
