Clearly nobody wants to reprimand a board member that is not performing --nor do most agencies relish the idea of asking a volunteer to quit coming, but once in a while these situations simply must be addressed. Believing strongly that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, this workshop will first review steps that can be taken to ward off a problem situation before it becomes explosive. Together we will explore supervisory techniques designed to re-shape behaviors and if all else fails, we will identify the steps of a well-thought out dismissal process. Be sure to bring a copy of your organization's bylaws to this workshop as this document is a critical tool in working with under-performing board members. If your organization has personnel policies that pertain to staff dismissals, these documents should come with you to the session as well.
